RESPONSIBLE GAMBLING
JOHNBIT RESPONSIBLE GAMBLING PRINCIPLES
The Responsible Gambling Principles (hereinafter — the “Principles”) form a component part of the Terms and Conditions and represent a set of measures aimed at preventing and reducing the possible impact of the Players’ participation in gambling on this website (hereinafter — the “Website”), organised by the owner of the Website and the service provider on it (hereinafter — the “Bookmaker”). Compliance with the Principles is mandatory both for the Players and for the Bookmaker. Use of the Website confirms that the Player has read the current edition of the Principles, accepts them and undertakes to comply with them unconditionally.
GENERAL PRINCIPLES
1. Responsible gambling is one of the pillars on which JohnBit builds and develops its business. The aim of these Principles is to protect the Players from the harmful consequences that gambling can bring about.
2. Use of the Website and participation in the games offered on it signifies the Player’s recognition of the binding force of the Terms and Conditions and of these Principles, and confirms the Player’s intent to comply with them strictly. The Player undertakes to use the Website exclusively for participation in the Games in a personal non-professional capacity, for the purpose of rest and entertainment; not to view games as a source of income, a way to cover debts or a substitute for regular work; to play exclusively with funds whose loss the Player can genuinely afford.
3. All responsible gambling tools and measures applied by the Bookmaker exist solely for the protection of the Player. Claims against the Bookmaker in connection with the application of such measures or with their very existence are not permitted.
HOW JOHNBIT PREVENTS THE ADMISSION OF PERSONS UNDER 18 TO GAMBLING. PARENTAL CONTROL
1. For participation in gambling on the Website the Player is obliged to confirm the attainment of the age set by law. The Bookmaker takes reasonable measures to verify age with the help of electronic and selective methods. The Bookmaker’s advertising is not addressed to vulnerable groups of the population, in particular to persons who have not reached the age set by law for participation in gambling.
2. Participation in play by persons who have not reached the age set by law is unlawful and can cause harm to them. Since responsibility for this rests with the account holder, the Bookmaker asks the Players to take measures so that their account is not used for gambling by such persons, and to observe the safeguards set out below:
- Do not leave a computer or a mobile phone unattended while authorised on the Website, do not keep the “Save password” option on, and sign out of the account after every session on the Website;
- Do not disclose to anyone the details of your payment card, bank account or account access;
- For guests and children who may gain access to the same device, create separate profiles and install dedicated parental control software (CYBERsitter (www.cybersitter.com) or Net Nanny (www.netnanny.com) — they will screen out unwanted content and filter sites);
- In case information about a minor user of the Website comes to light, report it to JohnBit Support without delay.
CONTROL OF PLAY AND SETTING RESTRICTIONS
1. During use of the Website and play the Player is encouraged to track and monitor their own play independently. Where the Player suspects a gambling addiction problem, the following questions are proposed for self-assessment (the greater the number of affirmative answers, the more serious the possible addiction):
- Do you hide how much time or money you spend on gambling?
- Do you view gambling as a way to escape grey or hard everyday life?
- Are you drawn to play more due to conflicts, disappointments or a depressed state?
- Do you choose gambling instead of spending time with family or friends?
- Do you feel an urge to win back immediately after a loss?
- Does your mood stay bad for a long time after losing money on gambling?
- Have you had to hear criticism for excessive interest in gambling?
- Are you capable of theft, deception or selling a valuable item for money for gambling?
- Has it happened that after play you were left completely without money — with none for food or the way home?
- Have you missed work or university classes because of gambling?
2. The following recommendations help keep gambling problems under control:
- Set a budget for play before it begins and stay within it;
- Use self-limiting tools;
- Remember: this is only a game;
- Take regular breaks or alternate gambling with other pursuits;
- Do not sit down to play if you feel unwell or are in a state of stress or anxiety;
- Refrain from borrowing money for play;
- Contact JohnBit Support with any questions regarding responsible gambling — especially in cases where playing safely becomes difficult or clarification of the present Principles is needed.
3. The following restriction tools are at the Player’s disposal:
3.1. Gaming limits — an option that restricts the sum of funds the Player can deposit to the account, stake or spend within 7 days (a zero limit fully blocks the ability to play). The same option allows restricting access to individual games or play within a defined time interval. A bet that exceeds the set limit cannot be accepted by the Bookmaker.
3.2. Freeze period (temporary self-exclusion) — an option that takes the Player out of play for a defined time interval: the Player has no ability to launch any Game, place any Bets or use other products and services of the Website, in particular to deposit funds.
3.3. Permanent self-exclusion — an option that permanently closes the Player’s account and removes the ability to create new accounts in the future; the balance of funds on the account is returned to the Player on condition of compliance with the other provisions of the Terms and Conditions.
4. Restriction tools are activated:
4.1. upon the Player’s application in the manner defined by paragraph 5 of the present section of the Principles;
4.2. upon the demand of competent authorities or a court, and in other cases provided for by the applicable legislation;
4.3. at the Bookmaker’s discretion — in case of a suspicion that the Player is not complying with the Principles.
5. To activate, change or lift any restriction tool, the Player sends a written request to JohnBit Support — in the manner defined by the Terms and Conditions, in compliance with the rules set out below:
Raising or lifting a gaming limit is possible no earlier than six (6) months from the day the request was submitted.
Lowering a limit is carried out on the same day the request reaches the Bookmaker.
A self-exclusion request additionally triggers all reasonable measures to stop sending the Player advertising and marketing materials.
6. Any request to lift or ease limits, the freeze period or self-exclusion may be declined by the Bookmaker at its own discretion, and the Bookmaker is not obliged to inform the Player of the reasons for such a decision.
Where the Player may turn for help
1. Despite the fact that the Bookmaker’s main aim and priority is to help the Player in resolving problems with safe gambling, JohnBit emphasises that it is not a professional support organisation. The Bookmaker always recommends that the Player consult a mental health specialist or one of the gambling addiction help centres that provide professional support and consultation on a daily basis. Listed below are the institutions the Bookmaker recommends contacting:
- Gambling Anonymous https://www.gamblersanonymous.org.uk/ ;
- Gambling Therapy https://www.gamblingtherapy.org/ .
